OpenAI and PayPal Partner to Unlock Instant Shopping in ChatGPT

On October 28, 2025, OpenAI and PayPal have announced a strategic partnership to power instant checkout and agentic commerce experiences within ChatGPT.

 

Through the adoption of PayPal’s Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), millions of ChatGPT users will soon be able to complete purchases seamlessly using PayPal’s wallet. The integration enables fast, secure checkout with multiple funding options, including bank accounts, balances, and cards, alongside buyer and seller protections, tracking, and dispute resolution. PayPal will also support OpenAI’s Instant Checkout via delegated payments APIs, managing card payment processing behind the scenes. Beginning in 2026, tens of millions of PayPal merchants, from small businesses to global retail brands, will be able to make their product catalogs discoverable and purchasable directly within ChatGPT, without requiring individual integrations.

 

Beyond commerce, PayPal is expanding its AI collaboration with OpenAI by scaling access to ChatGPT Enterprise for its workforce and leveraging OpenAI’s APIs to accelerate product development and enhance customer experiences. This partnership represents a significant step toward embedding secure, frictionless commerce directly into conversational AI.
